And That’s a Wrap!
Just like that, we have completed another successful AVSC ski buddy season!! Every winter the Adventures department recruits, trains, and coordinates volunteers within and out of our organization to act as a “ski buddy” to skiers that may have ASD or other differences and are enrolled in AVSC group lessons. This year, across Buttermilk and Snowmass mountains we provided:
- 260 Private Lessons, serving 62 Unique Individuals with disabilities
- 60 Buddy Ski Days, serving another 10 Unique Individuals
- In total we served 72 people & over 320 lesson/buddy support days.
Ski buddies commit several personal days throughout the winter season to help these skiers have a positive and successful time while staying integrated in group lessons. Without our ski buddies, a lot of skiers would not get to enjoy the sport we all love so much, so if you see a ski buddy, give them a high five and tell them how great they are!! If you are interested in being a ski buddy next season, please email Kayla Holthouse.
