Cheri Paxton

In 2019 Cheri and her husband, Richard, made Colorado their forever home.  During her previous 29 years in Paducah, Kentucky, she brought up 4 children including Joey, the younger of twins, who is on the Autism Spectrum. She learned to navigate early intervention programs, community opportunities and appropriate supports in the small public school system. Cheri was a member of the Charity League of Paducah, a fundraising organization for the West Kentucky Easter Seals Center, where she served as chair of the 1995 Follies.  She also served on the boards of the Paducah Symphony Orchestra and the Yeiser Art Center.  She acted in community theater, sang with the symphony chorus, and later studied drawing and painting at the Paducah School of Art and Design.  Cheri also has 6 years of experience supporting Joey in a post high school transition program called College Internship Program in Bloomington, Indiana.  She has direct knowledge of Ascendigo’s Adventure Camp and Life Enrichment program where Joey continues to be supported.  Cheri has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame and worked as a systems engineer for IBM prior to caring for her children full time.
